Fiber optic connector common knowledge

Fiber optic connectors are plugs at both ends by an optical fiber and fiber composition, plug by locking pin and peripheral structures. Depending on the locking mechanism, fiber optic connectors can be divided into FC type, SC type, LC type, ST type and KTRJ type.

FC connector with screw locking mechanism, invented earlier, use up a fiber optic connector.

SC is a rectangular connector, developed by NTT, without threaded connection, direct plug, and FC connectors, compared with a small operating space, easy to use. Low-end Ethernet products are very common.

LC is LUCENT developed a mini-SC connectors, has a smaller volume, has been widely used in the system, is a direction for future development of fiber optic connectors. Low-end Ethernet products are very common.

ST connector is developed by AT & T, with the bayonet locking mechanism, main parameters and FC and SC connectors fairly, but not common in corporate applications, usually used in multi-mode device is connected with other equipment manufacturers use more when docking.

KTRJ pin plastic through needle positioning, along with increased use of mating times, each mating surface will wear occurs, the long-term stability is worse than the ceramic pin connector.
